Music industry has changed a lot since Youtube became such a popular site. Many artist have post videos up and have gotten record deals soon after. Perfect examples of this are Mac Miller, Greyson Chance and Justin. Not only are they posting original material but they also post themselves singing to someone elses song in other words a cover. Theirs millions of covers up on youtube some are good and some are not good at all. It takes strengh to upload a cover on youtube knowing that the criticism you'll receive may not always be good but these have made a great impression for me.
Above all stands the Australian/Greek goddess Vassy. She is the Queen of Covers and has a ton of them up on her channel. Something special about her covers is that they are acoustics. Tho she is critized for her accent I am a firm believer that those that post mean comments are just intimidated by her amazing voice and beauty. When has an accent hurt anyone? It just makes her that more exotic. I still haven't heard 1 cover that I didn't like and that's because their is not a single bad one. Vassy also has her original work up their such as History, 50K Stars and my personal favorite Another Sleepless Night. So she is not just beautiful, She is also an amazing singer and writter. She released an Ep on itunes tittled The Acoustics which is a collection of her fan favorite covers. I can write a whole essay on how great Vassy is but ill stop here lol. Questions tho, Why is she not winning Grammy's and getting the recognition she deserves? I hate how the music industry always plays it safe with the same old artists give me something new, give me VASSY.
Another great cover on Youtube is Kimberly Cole's version of Lil Wayne's How To Love. I must admit the original was a mess. His voice was so not good for the song. Kimberly switched it up tho, She created a dance version of it. Its amazing here's How To Love by Kimberly Cole.
Radio stations constantly play Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heros and Adam Levine but in my opinion Gym Class Heros kills it. I only like Adam's part. Two amazing ladies havve gone great covers to this song Anjulie and Pastele. Anjulie's version is the female version of it. Using the same beats and keeping Adam Levine's part in it. Unfortunately I couldn't find a video on youtube with it but there's free downloads just google Anjulie Stereo Hearts mp3 and you'll find it. Now Pastele changed the beat a bit and changed several lyrics. A major diffrence between the two are the voices, Anjulie's is more edgier while Pastele's has a soultry feel to it. Their both amazing covers that I love, here's Pastele's Stereo Hearts.
Lastly is a cover by songstress Adele. Adele performed a live cover of one of my favorite artists (Cheryl Cole) #1 single Promise This. The orginal is a dance hit while Adele's is a ballad with back up singers. Its ana amazing cover enjoy Promise This by Adele.
